After performing the Star Spangled Banner at a home Varsity Girls' Basketball game, the first graders went viral on Twitter and Facebook, and caught the attention of Jerry Snodgrass at the OHSAA.

Mr. Snodgrass contacted Mrs. Nutter to see if the group would be interested in singing at a Boys' Championship game in Columbus...and of course we said yes!

Thirty-four students loaded a bus at 7:30 to head to Columbus for a 10:45 game. The students entered the arena in an entrance that allowed them to go straight on to the floor. The students were amazed by the Schottenstein Center, from an adult's perspective, their pure amazement may have been the best part of the day!

The students practiced several times before finding their seats.

When it was time for the game, they marched on to the court with confidence and sang with great enthusiasm and pride in front of thousands of people! After they performed, they took their seats and enjoyed the game. They also took a walking tour of the Schott.

The PTO supplied students with snacks for the way to Columbus, a parent treated them all with cotton candy, the school provided lunch and the OHSAA provided tickets for the students and staff attending.

By: Mr. Banta

I am conducting a simulation on presidents/presidential hopefuls in all of my classes. The main idea is to "answer" the question of how well presidents/hopefuls from different eras would do if they competed against each other in an election. I am using the format of the March Madness Bracket to conduct this simulation. Students will be required to complete this project in an effort to educate them about the presidency in a non-traditional manner.

I will be using the progression of the actual tournament to update the presidential bracket.
For example: George Washington is the #1 seed in the Midwest Region. His "success" throughout the tournament will depend on the school that is actually seeded #1 in that region.

The assignment is broken into 2 parts

Physical Bracket

Students will fill out the attached bracket of presidents/hopefuls, making predictions on how well each president/hopeful will progress throughout the tournament.

Accurately predicting the winner is not determined in the grade.

Written Portion

Students will label their Final Four picks on the “Written Portion”

3 facts are to be given for each Final Four pick demonstrating why that president/hopeful is worthy of becoming the “presidential champion”

The students will write one paragraph explaining who they picked as the “presidential champion” and why that person is worthy of beating every other president/hopeful in the tournament.

Students will update their bracket in real time during the actual tournament. A space on the back wall of the classroom will be used to monitor the progress.

In conclusion, the intent of the project is to have students familiarize themselves with our presidents other than a face and number.
The Wynford Royals and the Buckeye Central Bucks squared in their third meeting of the season in the sectional championship game. The Royals caged the Bucks by maintaining controlled of entire game, winning 67-58, for the sectional title.

Wynford played extremely well as a team to get the victory. Defensively the Royals frustrated the Bucks offense holding Grant Loy to only 10 points. A very aggressive defense forced Buckeye Central out of their game plan as they trailed most of the game. It was Jacob Shade's effort that kept the Bucks in the game leading all scores on the evening with 27 points.
Alex Crall had a team high 16 points while Braxton Tea added 14, Jack Reed dropped 11, and Nate Sparks muscled in 10. Coach Jason Engel said, "A great team effort was the key to defeating the Bucks tonight."

The Royals improve to 15-9 and advance on to face the No.2 seed Mansfield St Peter's in the district semifinals at Willard High School with a game time of 8 p.m.
Early Exit From Playoffs

The Wynford Royals ran into a tough Delta Panthers team in the first round of the state playoffs losing 21-15 and exiting the playoffs earlier than antipacting. Delta's 6-4 record was no indication of a weak team. The Panthers used a steady ground attack of B. Storeholder and J. Beverly which the Royals had difficulty controlling.
The Royals got out to an early lead on a 13 yard run by Zach Hoffman and two point conversion on a trick extra point play taking an 8-0. Wynford looked as if they were going to take an early 15-0 but a block in the back penalty negated the touchdown.
The Panthers got on the board just before halftime on a 6 yard run by Storeholder and the kick after was good bringing the score to 8-7 still in favor of the Royals. Delta put together two scoring drives during the second half both by Beverly giving the Panthers a 21-8 lead. Beverly's second score came after the Royals gave Delta a second chance on a face mask penalty on strong goal line stand.

Wynford would not give up. With roughly 8:00 left in the game, the Royals got good field position after the kick off and took the ball down the field and scored. Hoffman's 7 yard run brought the Royals to within seven at 21-15 with 6:49 left to play.
A strong defensive stand by the Royals gave them an opportunity to tie the game. With no time outs left and time ticking away, an interception ended the Royals playoff dreams. Wynford's season comes to an end with an impressive 9-2 record and another N10 championship.
Two equally matched teams, the Wynford Royals (14-10) and the Gibsonburg Golden Bears
(14-9), collided in round one of the sectional tournament. It was evident on the talents of each teams players with the match going five games.
Each player did not want this to be the last game of the year with every match being a battle to the end. The Royals used 61 kills, 14 aces, and 8 blocks as they traded points with Gibsonburg during each match. The Royals came out on top winning the match 3-2 with the scores of 23-25, 30-28, 25-23, 25-27, and 15-13.
A yearly tradition was brought back to the Wynford student body in the powder puff football game. The girls in grades 9-12 had the opportunity to take part in a game of flag football. The football players were the coaches, referees, and cheerleaders, that sure was a site to see. The senior and sophomore girls teamed up against the junior and freshmen girls. The juniors and freshmen got off to an early lead, but the seniors and sophomores were not going to let that affect them. A 20-0 lead ended up in a 20-14 win for the underclassmen.
On a wet and windy night, the Wynford Royals defeated the Colonel Crawford Eagles 41-14 and remained in control of the Iron Plow Trophy. Each schools FFA organization came up with the idea 2 years ago and it has become a tradition during the rivalry. Wynford improves to 2-1 while the Eagles fall to 2-1 taking their first defeat of the season.

The Royals were lead by an impressive ground attack with Zach Hoffman and Nick Looker leading the way with a combined total of 289 rushing yards. Hoffman was the leading rusher with 176 yards while Looker added 113 yards. Wynford's 6 scores were all rushing with 3 each by Hoffman and Looker. Hoffman also contributed 4 of 7 passing on the wet evening for 102 yards.

The first quarter looked as if the game was going to be a close match up between the rivalries. The Royals got on the board first scoring quickly on a 15 yard run by Hoffman after the Eagles fumbled on their first possession. Colonel Crawford came right back scoring on their next possession making it 7-7.

The Eagles stopped the Royals on 4th and short and connected on a 10 yard pass play to increase their lead to 14-7. This was the last of the Eagles scoring on the night. The Royals defense was just to much for the Eagles. Wynford managed to tie the game at 14-14 before half with 4 seconds remaining on a 6 yard run by Looker.

The Royals offensively plowed through the Eagles defense in the second half and held Crawford to just 9 total yards offense.

This was a great victory for the Royals and they will host the Carey Blue Devils Friday night on senior night.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09542160854738980491noreply@blogger.com0Wynford High School, 3288 Holmes Center Rd, Bucyrus, OH 44820, USA40.819454 -83.01710200000002316.4521405 -124.32569600000002 65.1867675 -41.708508000000023tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6771541102418655689.post-85923742169054955362015-09-11T13:11:00.000-04:002015-09-11T13:11:18.642-04:00Fall Scholar AthletesThe following student-athletes earned scholar athlete honors for Wynford. The high school and junior high students rolled into the building full of excitement and were ready for some changes. New faces and and the changing of internal positions have made the administration and staff happy with how smoothly the year has begun. The new faces that have contributed to the staff and the smooth running of year are Andrew Amlin (social studies), Jamee Burke (special education), and Jason Engel (physical education and health). Internally there were some changes with administration. Chris Solis moved from athletic director to junior high principal and Tim Ehresman took the role as athletic director. Everyone on the Wynford staff is looking forward to working with your child and making this a successful year.

After the ceremony, cake and punch were provided for the members and their family in the cafeteria. Becoming a member of National Honor Society takes a lot of work but is very rewarding. In order to become a member of National Honor Society, a student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, contribute volunteer hours, show leadership skills, possess good characteristics that help improve a school, and pass a teacher evaluation process. There are not many students that receive the honor of becoming a member of National Honor Society because of all the high standards and requirements. Hannah Kocher, Allie Crall, Kalyn Heinle, Trey Smith, Brooke Miller, Chelsea Mosely, Tessa Starner, and Morgan Hardymon were the current members from 2013-2014 that inducted the new members. The newly inducted members were Margaret Willford, Aryn Copeland, Alexis Phonchone, Alyssa Harrer, Jennifer Brown, Carlee Leonhardt, Chloe Ulmer, Ellie Richmond, Allison Heacock, Lainie Wright, and Taylor Baumberger. The Royals could not generate any offense the entire evening while the Tinora Rams were held under their normal scoring average by the Wynford defense. Wynford ends their season with a 11-2 record while the Tinora Rams improve to 13-0 and move on to the state semifinals at Ohio State University with a 17-0 victory. Five turnovers lead to the scoreless night for the Royals (3 interceptions and 2 fumbles).
Each team struggled to find any offensive continuity as both defenses showed their strengths in the first quarter with neither team crossing the goal line.
Tinora got on the board first with 11:09 left in the second quarter with a 31 yard field goal from the Rams kicker, Josh Camp, on a 7 play 43 yard drive giving Tinora a 3-0 lead.
Coach Gabe Helbert said, "Offensively we could not find a rhythm, but our defense played extremely well against a very talented and fast opponent." The Royals still gave themselves an opportunity against the Rams by holding them to just one score in the second quarter. Tinora went into halftime with a 10-0 lead with 1:17 left in the second quarter on a 10 yard run by Riley Nadel as he scampered off tackle and headed for the pylon. Wynford had difficulty stopping the Rams on offense as they continually gave the Wynford defense a steady dose of off-tackle sweep plays all night long.
The Wynford defense continued to hang tough during the second half only allowing the Rams to score once with 9:24 left in the third quarter on a 25 yard run by T.J. Gares. The 6 play 67 yard drive and the extra point gave Tinora a 17-0 lead which was all they needed to advance to the state semifinals.
Coach Gabe Helbert was extremely proud of his team. "We put ourselves in a position to play in a regional championship, but it just was not our night."
The Royals were lead by quarterback, Keaton Teynor, on offense with 11 of 24 for 113 yards passing and 66 yards on 22 carries rushing.
Coach Helbert said,
"They are a great group. We don't have any superstars, but they play football the way it is supposed to be played."
