Royals Cage the Bulldogs

Thursday, September 4th, the Wynford Lady Royals took on the Crestline Bulldogs in the W.R. Donnenwirth Gymnasium. The Royals easily won the first match 25-9. The second match was not won without a fight. The Royals got down early, 5-0. Finally, they caught the Bulldogs, tieing the game up at 12 with the help of Sydney Alspach’s serves. The Royals finally caged the Bulldogs in the second match 25-17. The third match started off rocky as well for Wynford. Brooke Miller’s serves as well as Alyssa Harrer’s strength at the net, brought the score to an even, 5-5. The Lady Royals held the Bulldogs at 12 to put the match away, 25-12, taking all three sets. Senior captain Brooke Miller said “We struggled to stay energized throughout the game, but we pulled through.” Another senior, Lydie Miller, shared, “It could have gone better, but I still had fun and I’m proud of my team.” Senior captain, Sydney Alspach said with pride, “I love my team!” Although Brooke and Lydie were a little disappointed with the Royal’s performance, Crestline gave the Royals a much needed break after their battle with Mohawk Tuesday, September 2nd. Alyssa Harrer led the team with 14 kills and 9 digs. Brooke Miller also contributed 8 digs. Red Corey led the team with 31 assists. Sydney Alspach had 7 aces, Alyssa Harrer was not far behind with 5 aces. The junior varsity team also came out victorious. Winning the first match 25-11 and the second match easily 25-8 for the Lady Royals.
