Next Stop, Cleveland State
By:Sara Hoffman, “Royal Times”The Wynford swim team competed in the Northwest District Sectionals on February 8, 2014 at Mansfield Malabar with all swimmers looking to move on in state competition. The first event in the sectionals for the girls was the 200 medley relay of Kalee Lohr, Sara Hoffman, Callie Ruffener and Madison Graham, and the girls placed fourth with a time of 2:02.63. Kalee set a new school record in the 200 IM and placed first with a time of 2:21.72. Senior Madison Graham swam the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.84 and placed sixth. Ethan Stuckey the only boy’s swimmer still competing for the Royals came in 11th with a personal record of 1:02.45 in the 100 fly. Swimming the 100 free, Ruffener finished seventh with a 58.34 and Graham finished eighth with 59.28. This was the first time Madison broke a minute in the 100 free. Callie competed in the 100 back and came in 3rd with a time of 1:04.95. Hoffman and Lohr swam the breaststroke; Kalee came in fourth with a new school record of 1:13.62 and Sara came in seventh with 1:17.48. The last race for the girls was the 400 free relay of Graham, Hoffman, Lohr and Ruffener where they came in 2nd and broke four minutes with a 3:59.74. All these swimmers qualified for the district meet that will be held at Cleveland State on February 14, 2014 at 5 pm.
